IGNOU launches diploma course in BPO thumbnail

IGNOU has launched a diploma programme in the domain of ‘business process outsourcing’ on finance and accounting, targeting more than 10 lakh students.

The programme was launched in collaboration with Accenture on Tuesday.

The hallmark of the programme is that it will reach out to the students of tier-two and tier-three cities left out of the opportunities created by the ever expanding BPO sector, said IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof Rajasekharan Pillai.

Students with a minimum eligibility of class 12th and 50 per cent aggregate in English can apply. The course duration will be of six months and forms will be available till 15th February.

Eligible candidates will have to pass a written test on English communication and quantitative ability, spokesperson of the varsity said, adding the course was open to working professionals who want to upgrade their skills in the finance and accounting outsourcing domain.

The said programme will be first in a series from the varsity for the outsourcing sector. Subsequently, other BPO specific programme such as human resources, category management, customer contact, insurance, banking and others will be launched, he said.
