Editors of leading news channels on Saturday launched a forum, Broadcast Editor’s Association (BEA) with the aim to highlighting and discussing issues of editorial importance in broadcast journalism.
“We were feeling the need for setting up an Editor’s forum, where we could discuss issues related to editorial content in television news channels. Therefore, BEA has been formed to fulfil this need,” said Shazi Zaman, Editor of Star News channel, who has been elected the forum’s President.
Zaman said the forum was different from News Broadcasters’ Association (NBA) and Indian Broadcasters Federation (IBF), which are basically associations of news channels heads and CEOs formed to self-regulate news content.
Times Now’s Arnab Goswami and NDTV’s Pankaj Pachauri have been named vice presidents of the body and N K Singh would be the General Secretary.
Other office bearers of the BEA include Live India’s Sudhir Chaudhary, CNN IBN’s Vinay Tewari, Zee Tv’s Satish K Singh, Sahara TV’s Sanjay Bragta, IBN-7′s Ashutosh, News 24′s Ajit Anjum, India TV’s Vinod Kapri and UTV’s Pranjal Sharma.
