BJP is going through a phase of “ideological confusion” and is unable to decide on its agenda on Hindutava, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said.

“This ideological confusion was caused by the fact that the BJP was unable to decide how much of Hindutva it should have on its agenda,” Singh said while talking to reporters at Bhopal on Sunday.

He said that there was not much meaning in senior BJP leader Arun Shourie’s suggestion that the RSS should take over the BJP as it was already running that party.

Singh said that not much importance should be given to all that was happening within the BJP as it may not continue for long and will not have much impact.

Asked about the allegations made by Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh that Congress did not give due respect to SP even though it supported UPA during last year’s crucial trust vote in Parliament, Singh refused to comment.

“I have taken this decision (not to comment over the issue) as I do not want to add unpleasantness to any situation,” the Congress leader said.

Referring to appointment of Sudheendra Kulkarni as a member of railway committee, the SP leader had also alleged that UPA was rewarding those who were opposed to it during the trust vote.

The Congress leader responded to this saying “there were mercenary soldiers all over”.
